August 18 - August 19
A taster of just some of the attractions you will find at the Ramsey 1940s Weekend this year.
Have you ever wondered what it was like to be in an air raid shelter during an air raid with bombs falling around you? Can you imagine the noise and the ground shaking? Can you imagine the smells and the fear? What must it have been like?
Now you can find out for yourself. Make sure to visit our air raid shelter and experience first hand what people went through during an air raid. An experience not to be missed!
Air raids throughout both days – just listen for the air raid warning siren.
Each day a 30 minute battle reenactment takes place. This reenactment is unique. Not only does it feature the usual movement of vehicles and foot soldiers seen at many shows – it has extras that make it truly spectacular. Simon Det Cord Payne, our pyrotechnics expert, coordinates all the explosions and gunfire to the action unfolding in front of you. As the advancing troops move towards the trenches hand to hand fighting takes place right in front of you – in the trenches – metres from you. Talk about up close and personal – you will be right in the thick of the action so don’t forget your camera!
But it doesn’t end there. Throughout the day you will be able to walk through the extensive trench network. You can visit the ammo dump, the hospital tent, the PAK gun and much more. Pose for photos, talk to the reenactors and explore to your hearts content. There are more surprises to come but you’ll only find out at the show!
